Recognizing the need for knowledge and experience sharing, it is timely for PetroMin to host the 8th Deepwater Technology Asia Conference 2012. Over the 2 days, the event will address current developments in this sector with focus on new technologies, recent discoveries, solutions to deepwater project challenges, and safety & regulations in view of the greater global scrutiny. The 8th DTA will serve as an excellent platform for key players of the deepwater sector to share their experience, technical expertise and best practices with other members of the industry. “...predicted that, from this year to 2016, cash-flush Asian firms will spend about US$28.8 billion on investments in deep-sea exploration, drilling and production. That will be more than double the US$11.6 billion spent in the five-year period spanning 2007 and 2011. The growth of investments by Asia-Pacific firms is expected to outstrip the growth in global investment spending. About US$232 billion of investments are expected to be pumped into deep-sea projects worldwide from now till 2016, up 90 per cent over the past five years.” Source: The Straits Times, 10 January 2012.
