Surging demand and a tight global supply have pushed oil prices to a record all-time high with no immediate downturn visible. Competition for untapped energy resources is fiercer than ever, especially in the developing countries to bridge the gap between demand and supply to the extent possible and to secure sufficient fuel for their growing economies. As the opportunities of finding easy oil have passed, the present search for hydrocarbon resources is experiencing harsh geological settings and environments. Moreover various down-hole complications in view of variable pressure, temperature regimes and other problems can be envisaged in such areas too.

The theme for the 2nd Onshore Technology Asia Conference 2010 is "Onshore Frontier E&P Challenge". The biggest challenge is how to develop dependability while lowering the cost and adhering to tight schedules. The need for greater knowledge and the latest technological advancements are crucial to meet the desired objectives so as to tap the latent resources at optimum cost.

Abstracts of papers on any of the topics mentioned below are being actively solicited from Petroleum Engineers, Drilling & Mud Engineers, Geologists, Geophysicists and Petrophysicists, although other topics of equal interest on Onshore Technology will also be considered. Papers of mainly commercial content are not encouraged and final selections will be on the basis of papers that expand the level of 'composite' knowledge and beneficial to the participants. Suggested Topics on each event are stated below for your reference.

Interested authors should submit an abstract of no more than 400 words in MS Word format and should state clearly the objectives, subject matter and conclusions to be presented in the full paper. The abstract should be accompanied by the authors' bio data(s) (<100 words) and photo(s). All final papers MUST be in written 'word format' so that later publication in PetroMin is possible. 'Power Point' submission for publication will not be considered, but the presenter should present his paper using Power Point that covers the main points of the paper and various illustrations.

Notification of Acceptance - 31st August 2010
