Introduction:
The 6th PetroMin Deepwater & Subsea and Underwater Technology Conference will largely focus on issues relevant to technology and project developments that serve the needs of the industry in Asia.
New reserves have to be found in deep and ultra-deepwaters. Countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, The Philippines, India and Australia have made early moves and have projects entering the development phase. Malaysia's first deepwater development, the Kikeh field operated by Murphy Oil, is in production now. Sabah Shell Petroleum Company and ConocoPhilipps have decided to go ahead with the development of Gumusut-Kakap field, also in offshore Sabah. In India, the first deepwater field development has begun at Reliance's world-class gas discovery in Krishna-Godavari Basin, where the state-owned ONGC and GSPC have also major gas discoveries waiting for development. Elsewhere, in Australia there are several deepwater field development projects.
All these require technologies and expertise. Currently available technologies will require a makeover, borrowing from the experience of North Sea or Gulf of Mexico projects and adapting them to Asian requirements: witness the Kikeh Spar. the Asian deepwater spending which is way below the world average is expected to catch up by 2010. Simultaneously, a broad range of opportunities for deepwater technology providers.
Theme:
The theme of the Conference is Regional Centre for Deepwater Development - The Next Phase.
and this technology conference is scheduled to take place at Hotel Istana, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 3 to 4th November 2008.
Topics
The Conference will provide opportunities for companies to share their experience and knowledge with an audience of hundreds of industry professionals. The combined Deepwater, Subsea and Underwater Conference is the only event of its kind, nowhere else can oil and gas professionals get targeted, high-quality information that will help them maximize their potential. Join the erudite group of speakers who provide valuable information about real-world applications of technology in the deepwater exploration, maintenance and complex environments of deepwater scene today.
We cordially invite companies involved in the areas of deepwater and subsea development to send in their abstract for review by our Technical Program Committee, which comprises of Operators and Technology providers.
Papers to be presented should be in line with the following topics:
- Deepwater Installation
- Engineering and Fabrication
- Subsea equipment
- New Technology
- Growing local capability in deepwater project execution
|
Now and the Future
Regional Intervention capability
Joint Resource pooling
Standardisation of Subsea equipment across vendors
Myth or Reality?

Papers on any of the topics mentioned above are being actively solicited although other topics of equal interest will also be considered. Companies who wish to share their experience/knowledge in the development projects are invited to provide an abstract of their paper for consideration by the programme committee.
We invite professionals and individuals to submit abstracts, which should be less than 600 words, for consideration by the program committee. The abstract should reach us before 15th August 2008 followed with a photograph and the biodata of the author. You may either submit your abstract online or via e-mail.
Guidelines:
The program committee will review the written papers to ensure that
the content is in line with the objective of the conference, which is:
"SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
ASSOCIATED WITH TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES IN DEEPWATER, SUBSEA AND UNDERWATER TECHNOLOGY.
Please note:
"Papers of purely marketing/commerical nature will not be considered".
In line with the conference theme and objective, the program committee
is careful in selecting the topics and invite speakers to present
papers on their own experience to share with the conference
participants.
