  En Ibrahim Bin Johari

Ibrahim Bin Johari is the General Manager of the Transmission Operations Division. He holds an Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Institut Teknologi MARA (ITM) in 1978 and a postgraduate Diploma in Gas Engineering from the Institute of Gas Technology (IGT), Chicago, USA in 1980. In 1997 he had attended Advance Management program from Stamford/National University of Singapore. He joined PETRONAS in January, 1979 and has wide experience in gas processing and transmission operations. He was Manager of Plant Operations in Kertih, Terengganu from 1984 to 1991. He then held the position as Senior Manager, Gas Transmission Operations at the Segamat Operations Center from 1991 to 1995 and was promoted as General Manager Transmission Operation/Project for the Peninsular Gas Pipeline 3 (PGU III). In April 1996, he was appointed the General Manager of PETRONAS Methanol Labuan Sdn. Bhd. prior to assuming his current position in November 1999.

Dr Beasley has been invovled in energy research, technology and policy for over twenty-five years, focusing mainly on natural gas matters. He was recently appointed as the inaugural Executive Director of the ASCOPE Gas Centre beased in Kuala Lumpur and previously held the position of Chief Executive of the Australian Pipeline Industry Association. He holds a PhD in Chemistry.

Dr Jaafar Abdullah is the Manager and Principal Research Scientist of Plant Assessment Technology Group, Industrial Technology Division, Malaysian Institute for Nuclear Technology Research (MINT), Bangi, Selangor. He has been involved in a wide variety of research and development using radioisotope technology for industrial plant assessment since 1980. He is recognised by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as an expert and consultant in the field of industrial applications of radioisotopes. He received his B.Sc in Physics, M.Sc in Nuclear Technology from University of Surrey, UK and Ph.D in Materials Engineering from University of Wales Swansea, UK. He has published substantial amount of scientific papers, consultation documents, technical reports and articles. He has won a number of awards both nationally and internationally for his outstanding innovations in the field of radioisotope technology. He is a member of several professional organisations and societies, which include MNS, MSNT, IPM, IMM and MARS. He was a member of MSNT Board of Directors and the chairman of technical and training committee.

Zamanuri B Ibrahim accumulated about 18 years working experience in oil and gas industry with the last 13 years with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd ( PCSB), the E & P arm of Malaysian National oil company PETRONAS. A graduate in mining engineering from Camborne School of Mines (CSM), UK, Zamanuri has a wide range of experience in drilling engineering, operations and management in development and exploration wells in many countries, which include Vietnam for the development of Ruby Project, the drilling sites in Indonesia,Turkmenistan, Algeria, Yemen, Chad, Sudan and Equatorial Guinea. He is the Snr Manager, Deepwater dept in PCSB and his responsibilities involve in developing the deepwater capability within the organisation in an effort to be a leading deepwater operator in the near future.

He has worked in a broad variety of Well Engineering and Exploration positions both off- and onshore in Oman, Holland and Brunei. Recently he joined EPA in Malaysia as the Regional Wells New Technology Manager.

Neil Smith is Business Manager - Field Development with Frontier Engineering Solutions (Asia Pacific), a Wood Group Consulting Services company based in Perth, Australia. He has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, London, and has over 22 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, with a particular focus on subsea and deepwater field developments. He has been responsible for the design and project management of subsea facilities on numerous projects worldwide, in water depths down to 1,200 metres. Neil is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and has chaired two regional SPE conferences on Deepwater Technology. He chaired the Panel Session on deepwater developments at the 2001 SPE Asia Pacific Oil and Gas Conference in Jakarta, and has authored and presented papers on value optimisation and risk analysis of regional subsea developments. Neil has worked on projects in the UK, Norway, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and Australia.

Bruce Miller is an Oilfield Services Account Manager for Schlumberger in Kuala Lumpur. He has a BSc and Msc in Structural Geology from the University of Illinois and started with Schlumberger in 1995 as a Wireline Field engineer in the Gulf of Mexico. During the following years in Lousiana he worked in various locations and performed jobs in Sales and as Wireline Operations Manager before being transferred to Stavanger Norway as Schlumberger’s Formation Evaluation Marketing Manager for Scandinavia. In January, Bruce arrived in KL to assist in Schlumberger’s efforts in the growing Deepwater developments right here in Malaysia. His experience in both the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea are crucial to assisting various operators here in the Malaysian petroleum provinces. Schlumberger is very focused on advancing Deepwater technology at a time when this new production is critical to the world oil market.

Bob Phang graduated from Monash University, Melbourne-Australia in 1982 with a Bachelor's Degree in Materials Engineering. In 1991 he undertook Research & Development in cathodic protection of steel reinforced concrete (SRC) structures for marine environment with the Materials Engineering Faculty of Monash during his Masters of Engineering Science dissertation. His professional undertakings as a corrosion specialist spans over 20 years with established International organizations. He has trained technicians and engineers under his charge under an Australian / Malaysian Joint Venture scheme in Malaysia since 1993. He has gained extensive experience in Corrosion Mitigation & Control Projects including Cathodic Protection designs & project management for pipelines, storage tanks, oil platforms, wharves and concrete structures. His awareness in corrosion science & technology is shared via affiliations with NACE International, MiCorr UK, Australasian Corrosion Association, Institute of Engineers Australia & Malaysia, Institute of Materials Malaysia.

David Barnett is the Principal Metallurgist Materials responsible for materials and failure investigations in the Technical Services Department of the large integrated iron and steelworks at Australian Iron and Steel, Port Kembla, New South Wales (NSW) Australia. In 1983 he was appointed to the position of Chief Metallurgist of the Electricity Commission of NSW. He was chairman of the NDT Standards Board MT/7- from 1987-1993 when many influential standards on NDT were produced. He is also the current chairman of the Certification Board of the Australian Institute for Non-Destructive Testing and has served in this capacity since 1994. Mr. Barnett has also been involved in the Welding Technology Institute of Technology over many years, serving on a number of Technical Panels and Committees, including being a member of WTIA's Executive committee from 1997 to 1999. A Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Mining and Metallurgy (UK) he is currently the Executive Officer of the Australian Institute for Non-Destructive Testing.

Dr. Nils Ovsthus Kristiansen is a Senior Pipeline Engineer at Sarawal Shell Berhad, Malaysia. He received his PhD from Imperial College, United Kingdom. Nils has fifteen years experience in engineering, construction and at operators relating to the design and operation of offshore pipelines and subsea production facilities. His work experience covers conceptual, and detail design of export and inter-field pipelines as well as re-assessment of existing pipelines. He has extensive experience in the application of non-linear structural Finite Element (FE) analysis of pipeline and piping systems, and broad experience in the application of limit state design. His geographical range of experience includes the North Sea, Australia and South East Asia.

He has worked in Canada, South America and 11 years in SouthEast Asia.

John van Kuyk is Offshore Business Development Manager for Anglo Eastern Crew Management – SE Asia based in Singapore. He has been in the offshore industry for 30 years and been involved in nearly all the major offshore arenas world wide, in particular with offshore construction, installation, trenching, inspection etc.John’s career in the offshore Oil & Gas Industry began after leaving the Royal Navy in 1973 when he retrained as a Hydrographic Surveyor. Following several years working offshore he moved into Project management and then into Operations Management and more recently Business Development. For the past few years John has also been actively involved with the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA), originally on the Offshore Survey Division Management Committee, and is currently vise chairman of the IMCA Asia Pacific Region committee.

Avalo Vergne Caldwell II   is currently the Regional Manager for CABACO Marine, an ROV and Diving service company with offices in California and Singapore. He has actively worked in the ROV industry since 1977. Vergne received his electronics training in the USAF, specializing in Air Navigation System repairs and calibrations. He has experience in most all phases of the ROV Industry including being a pilot/tech, supervising, Operations and Technical Manager, Consultant and Client Representative. During the past 28 years he has managed to travel to and work in most major oilfields around the world. He is also the Secretary of the ADCI Asian Pacific Chapter.
Mike Kelly  Mike Kelly

Mike Kelly entered the Marine Industry working on a 135-foot, 325-ton ocean going tug hauling ammunition up the Mekong River in 1967. Later, he served as Master on a coastal hydrographic survey vessel offshore Vietnam. He worked on various drilling rigs and construction barges throughout the Southeast Asia, the Gulf of Mexico and Trinidad region for rig and construction diving. Mike left the diving industry in 1975 and joined Hydro Products to help in the development of the RCV 225 and RCV 150 Remote Operated Vehicles. After having a vast experience in setting up ROV capabilities and one-atmosphere submersibles for operations to 3,000-meters of water on the DP Drillship 'Discovery Seven Seas' offshore West Africa and in various parts of the world, he was involved in a joint-venture with the Columbian Navy. The last assignment with Oceaneering was as General Manager, Africa and the Mediterranean. When Mike returned to Singapore in 1992, he set up the Singapore operation for sales and service for Nautronix Dynamic Positioning and Acoustic tracking systems. Following a short stunt with Sonsub Asia as General Manager, Mike formed his own company Otronix Singapore Pte Ltd, which provides equipment and services to the Offshore Industry for vessel controls, dynamic positioning, oceanographic and hydrographic equipment and environment monitoring systems. Mike is a life member of the US Navy League.
